Future Leaders Introduction
On this site you will find information about why Future Leaders exists and how we work.
“Those who love peace must learn to organize as effectively as those who love war.” -Martin Luther King Jr.
A PROGRAM FOR YOUNG; PIONEERS, VISIONARIES AND GAME CHANGERS.
A new and bold approach to leadership development. A program designed to empower and support the next generation of conscious leaders, ready to take on the challenges of tomorrow.
Vision
A Thriving world led through conscious responsible action
Mission
We are mobilizing, developing and empowering conscious leaders to work together on glocal challenges and take long term responsibility.
Principles
In Future Leaders we have 10 principles that are meant to help guide us at any time. In our lives, while developing the organisation, everything.
We hope you take ownership to these; both in the program and in your day to day life:
There must be a better way.
Do what is right.
Think far, act now.
Trust yourself, be brave and dare to act.
Nothing works unless you do.
The only way forward is through.
Leave the place better than when you arrived.
Treating everyone equally by treating everyone differently.
Take responsibility. Always!
Imperfect is the only perfect.
We are still working to finalize the perfect principles, and will decide on it in January of 2020. Until then we hope you give feedback, comments and suggestions if you have any.
You can do this by joining the “Late night with Future Leaders events”

Our Story
Many people say that things are getting better, and it's true that many things are. But it's also true that we are facing the biggest challenges in human history. Now more than ever we need everyone to get engaged and take responsibility for a better future.
Future Leaders was initiated to empower and mobilize a new generation of conscious leaders taking responsibility for some of the glocal challenges of our time.
In the later years Future Leaders has started working with companies to develop and empower their leaders, talents and experts. This work supports the growth of the Future Leaders Foundation, and enables young leaders all over the world to go through the non-profit program
Since the establishment in Oslo in 2015, the movement has grown to 8 cities on 3 continents. Future Leaders have developed more than 600 leaders and hosted more than 100 leadership gatherings
Elin Nørve meet Michael Engstrom at a co working hub in Oslo, the agreed that the best way to solve the global challenges we’re facing today is by developing brave young leaders, taking on those challenges. That was the start and they founded Future Leaders, started with 10 participants in Oslo, then, 60, then decided to kick ass in Copenhagen, and 200 in Oslo, and finally our crazy team decided to go for Bergen, Stockholm, and Barcelona - that’s where we’re at today - and trust us - it’s just the start!
Future Leaders is born out of one core belief: "We believe that we are facing a dire, cross-sector, global shortage of effective leaders."
Our program is a response to all programs, leadership development, MBA's etc., which we strongly mean have failed in developing the leaders we need today and tomorrow. The leadership development industry has become a billion dollar industry. Professor of Management, Barbara Kellermann assumes that $ 156 billion was spent on development and learning for workers in 2011, only in the United States. Of this sum, it is estimated that 12.6% is used for leadership development (Pfeffer 2015).There is, however, little evidence that this leads to better managers, and several believe that the management industry has failed and that it has not contributed to something positive for people, at all. (Pfeffer 2015, Kellermann 2012).
It's hard not to be affected by the daily flood of negative headlines, challenges and problems that seem unsolvable, politicians and leaders whose main drive is their ego, ambition and greed.
That trust towards major institutions has fallen all around the world, is hardly a controversial statement these days. It's easy to lose hope when the media gets increasingly polarized, when global leaders lie and unstable global relations are becoming daily news rather than the exception.
Conflicts, war, human tragedy and epidemics - there is a lot of bad things going on out there. However, the truth of the matter is that we never have lived in a better world than today. A world with less poverty, fewer nations at war, and more children attending school than ever before.
These facts are not coincidences nor strokes of luck. It's the result of brave men and women working hard every day - to push the world in the right direction.
Things are getting better but we are facing some challenges that might seem unbearable and unfixable. It might seem tempting to ignore it - to continue with business and life as usual, but just like the men and women before us we can find a solution if we act together.
Today's systems and laws, corporate structures and politics are based on old needs, and we can't solve today's challenges with the same mindset that created them.
The future is about collaboration, about agility, about realizing that one can do work that is both good business and good for the world simultaneously.
We have the potential to create this future together.
It is not about the newest software or the newest social media. It's about people, building a new culture and a new reality.
History has always been written by leaders. Those leading nations, a sister or brother or even themselves, into the unknown.
With a new set of leaders who thrive in changing times. Leaders who inspire, motivate, understand the future and how to get there. Together - step by step we will create a new and better tomorrow.
We as a global society are facing are facing great challenges. We believe that the best way to solve these are to empower the young gamechangers to become robust young leaders, create impact on sustainability and take action!
