Follow-Up: The Sustainable Follow-Up

The sustainable follow-up plan outlines key activities that the Community Core Team should ensure is being conducted by or offered to the new FL Community. The plan is to be implemented within the first year of existence and activities are listed in the recommended order that they be provided and/or conducted, however they can also be done in the order that makes the most sense for the Local Community.

1. Establish Consistency

It is important that the Community establish a regular meeting time, date and location. In addition, the Community Coordinator Team should all understand their role and responsibilities and be held accountable.

2. FL Community Orientation

It is important that all new members have a basic understanding of the Community in terms of who we are, what we do and how we do it. This orientation should be offered regularly as new people continue to join the Community.

3. Create a Long-Term Strategic Plan

It is important that the Local Community consider the long-term impact it wants to achieve in the

community over the next 5, 10 or 30 years. Organize a strategic planning session to outline those long-term goals and strategies to achieve them. Use the FL Mission and current FL Strategic Game Plan as a guide.

4. Create an Annual Plan of Action

Once you have a long-term strategic plan, the Local Community must create an annual plan of action for the upcoming calendar year. The plan of action should support the achievement of their long-term goals and be aligned to FL’s international plan of action for the same year.

5. Set up Communication System and Launch Regular check ins

Internal and external communications are important for the long-term success of your Local Community. Keep all members informed of meetings, their outcomes and on-going activities while also communicating these opportunities to the community. It's important to set up the communication systems you need to have a flow of communication. Decide where you communicate and organize your work.

6. Engage in the Community Need

Get your Community involved in the community by participating in projects and activities organized by other civil society Communities. Encourage the new Community to engage with groups working to address the same community’s needs.

7. Provide FL Program

Organize and Deliver the FL Academy Program to the community to mobilize and empower the next generation of conscious leaders taking on the global responsibility and the Sustainable Development Goals.

8. Conduct FL Projects and Events

As soon as the community is started inspire them to take grassroots action to create projects and events that addresses the community’s needs.
